Blog #4

As I reflected on my homework, the assignment I thought I did well on was essay three. This essay was based on our view of a topic of our choice. Getting to write on a subject of my choice was the best assignment I have received from this class. We could have written about anything that we wanted. Well growing up in Chicago motivated me to write about sex education because it seems that schools are not teaching abstinence. Doing research on this was a little hard but I was able to find helpful information to use in my essay. The homework assigned to us has been good for me. For example writing three helped me practice my TS/CD paragraphs. I have learned that transitioning from one thing to another does not have to involve a transitional phrase. Now, I could put two sentences that are not similar and make them relate to one another. The sentences and paragraph assignment helped to proofread my own writing after being finished. Well the grades that I have received so far have been surprising. I thought that I would have gotten slightly lower grades but I am happy with the overall grade in class. As far as this summer course, it feels like if it just started and in about two weeks it will be over. I admit it has been stressful just because I work fulltime and my job makes it hard to concentrate on homework. I have learned time management taking this summer class. I have to do the homework when they it is assigned to us in order for me not to feel that I am being pressured. I like the speed of the course because I get it done and over within eight weeks. I definitely believe that if I had more time I would spend more time on my essays, proofreading and revising them of course.

  1. Of everyone I have had this term, you are the most likely to benefit from TS/CD. This format will really help you learn to put forth your opinion in a forceful and convincing manner. You are, by the way, right that public schools just do not teach abstinence. Private schools tend to focus on this, alone. There has to be a middle ground to keep kids (and young adult like my roommate's daughter) from randomly procreating.
